POSITION: Professional Services Educator
DEPARTMENT: Wella-Sebastian Sales Organization
LOCATION: Candidates should live in the Washington DC area
BASIC FUNCTION:
Develops and manages the Wella International business within an assigned geographical territory through regular contact with beauty salons, booth renters, cosmetology schools, chain accounts and distributors, in compliance with company policy. Recruits, trains, schedules and coordinates free-lance educators within the Technical Specialist Program. Supports education related activities for salons and distribution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Schedules and conducts educational events and activities that encompass theory, practical experience, product knowledge and techniques for all Wella International Line products. This activity should represent 55% of work time.
2. Supports sell-in and sell-through of all products; develops new product placement and increases existing product usage.
3. Develops a partner-like relationship with sales force. Maintains frequent and timely contact with sales consultants; provides product knowledge, schedules detail days with sales consultants, follows-up on class requests and trouble shooting calls and attends and may conduct sales meetings, e.g., in absence of the Sales Consultant. Professional Services Educators also ensure all distributor store and telemarketing personnel have appropriate product knowledge on an ongoing basis. Represents 20-25% of work time.
4. Educates Technical Specialists on Wella products and their uses, providing training and education programs; ensures that technical standards of the Technical Specialists are maintained at the highest standard. Represents 5% of work time.
5. Participates or assists in planning, coordinating and scheduling of the Technical Specialists.
6. Coordinates and participates in area shows as assigned by supervisor. Represents 5% of work time.
7. Maintains current and accurate account information, Educator Activity Reports, Expense Reports, Itineraries and any other requested written reports. Ensures that all reports and special requests by management are prepared in a suitable format and submitted on schedule. Planning and administration should reflect not more than 10% of work time.
8. Attends district, regional and company meetings for further personal and career development to learn about promotions and activities, development of new technical and presentation techniques and new product introductions. Participates in discussions of competitive activities.
9. Attends competitive seminars; tests and compares competitive products and reports competitive activity to Supervisor on a regular basis and as requested.
10. Assists in an enthusiastic and professional manner in all assignments as directed by the management of The Wella Corporation.
REQUIRED TRAVEL: Up to 50-75% (dependent on location) within assigned territory and for participation in various meetings and shows.
SUBORDINATE POSITIONS: None, however, provides direction to Technical Specialists
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Regional Education Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum three years industry experience including sales, chemical application, cutting/finishing and conducting presentations which includes manufacturer, distributor and/or extensive part-time education experience with a manufacturer.
2. Ability to perform essential functions.
3. Good communication, administrative and hairdressing skills related to chemical and hairdressing services. Must be able to demonstrate application proficiently.
4. One to two years related salon experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Well-groomed appearance.
2. Presentation skills.
3. College
4. One to two years related outside sales experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
1. High school diploma or acceptable equivalency.
2. Valid and current Cosmetologist license.
3. Valid driver's license.
4. Access to car that is properly registered and insured.
