Ebay's money transfer arm to launch credit card

PayPal, the money transfer division of the online auction site eBay, is to offer credit cards in Britain. The company which has more than 10 million British payment accounts, has linked up with GE Money to supply the card.

It follows a similar move in the US. PayPal said yesterday 100,000 of its British account holders will be offered the card first later this month.

While the card is unremarkable - offering 12.9% APR with 0% interest on balance transfers for the first six months - the company said its introduction is the first of a number of financial services it plans to offer in the future.
