We don't like the Big Four rates

It's common knowledge that the big four banks have some of the most uncompetitive rates on loans around. To borrow £5,000 from HSBC you'd be charged 13.9%.

NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (part of the same banking group) both charge 12.9% on £5,000. And Barclay's has the best rate at 9.9%.

These rates are still way off the top rate of 5.9% from Cahoot. But hats off to NatWest, which this week slashed its loan rates by up to 4.0% for applications via the internet.

Borrowers going online for a loan of £5,000 to £25,000 will now be offered at rate of 7.9%. Advantage Gold customers can obtain a rate of 6.9%. APRs will vary depending on the term of the loan.

But these loans are not risk-based pricing like the leading two loans mentioned.
