We like discounted variable rates

We recommend discounted variable rates: 3.29%. With the price of fixed rates rising, now is a good time to look at discounted variable rates.

There is now a difference of as much 1% between the price of two-year fixed rate mortgages and discounted-rate mortgages, which makes them very good value .

Our favourite in this range is the 2.25% discount (pay rate of 3.29%) for two years offered by the Woolwich. It is available for both purchases and remortgages, and this product has no penalties for over payments or full redemption.

As there are no penalties at any time, home buyers will always have the option to come out and fix at a later date should they wish.
