Where was my warning?

Q The last statement for my Morgan Stanley credit card said my estimated interest next month would be £0.00, excluding any expiring promotional offers. Knowing my interest-free period was due to expire, I rang up to confirm when it did end.

Morgan Stanley told me it would expire the next day, so even if I had paid in full by the payment due date - over a week away - I would have been hit with interest.

Morgan Stanley's statement runs to four pages, and proudly proclaims: "The new
statement booklet allows you to view your account information at a glance" - all apart from the crucial information about when you start paying hefty interest to Morgan Stanley, that is.

I can't believe Morgan Stanley don't print warnings like this on their statements.

A According to Morgan Stanley, your interest-free promotional period was due to end in April - this is why there was no mention of it on your March statement, as this wouldn't have given you enough time to do anything about it by the cut-off date.

However, the company says this was pointed out on your Februarystatement, giving you more than a month to arrange to pay off any balance before the interest-free period expired. Morgan Stanley suggests you might have missed this if you weren't looking out for it - but do let us know if that's not the case.
