Assistant Product Mgr.

MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assist in management of a specific product line, growth, sales and profitability through strategic product planning and marketing.

JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assist in the creation, launching and implementation long term strategy, including new products and product enhancements so that the product is continuously changing to meet market needs and trends.

2. Maintain market position of products by managing existing product lines and competitive market information, through contact with the field sales force and customers. Participate in meetings with customers and regional offices to follow up on product line offerings and exchange information regarding product-related needs, end-user input, and general market environment.

3. Develop, monitor and update product goals, budget and strategic business plans. Report on product line performance to Product Manager, utilize sales analysis skills to understand and report on product and market dynamics.

4. Provide sales staff and subsidiaries with comparative product analysis, competitive product and marketing strategies, features and benefit summaries.

5. Participate in product modifications, cost reductions, margin analysis, advertising and promotion, forecasting, product positioning and pricing strategies.

6. Assist in directing and overseeing the efforts of the product group.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

1. Undergraduate degree. MBA is desirable. 2. Engineering Degree or Marketing/Business Degree preferred. 3. Knowledge and experience in product development. 4. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 5. International experience would be a plus. 6. Analytical skills and ability to manage and work cross-functionally. 7. Understanding of financial/accounting/purchasing/material management and manufacturing.

 

TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE 2 ? 5 Years of Professional Experience, with a minimum of 1 ? 3 years of product/market management
