AutoZone, the world's leading vehicle solutions provider, has a great opportunity for a Category Manager?in the Merchandising department of our downtown Memphis headquarters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for complete category management, to include, developing and implementing a buying philosophy, a pricing philosophy, and a marketing strategy; developing and maintaining vendor relationships and managing all aspects of their categories.

The Category Manager will use information from sales, gross profit and various adhoc reports to ensure that their assigned categories meet established performance targets. Category Managers must have a understanding of accounting, a comprehension of manufacturing principles, and an understanding of supply chain management including EDI and logistics, and use that knowledge to troubleshoot supply chain issues. Travel required.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent and 3+ years category management or retail buying experience (to include selecting product mix and vendor negotiations. Qualified candidates must also demonstrate strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills, must be a team player and problem-solver; will be proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point and Lotus Notes.
