Manager, Global Supply Management - Purchased Products

Summary:
Stanley Global Supply Management has an opportunity for a Manager, Global Supply Management - Purchased Products located in New Britain, CT. This position supports and drives all Stanley Works divisions/plant in cost reduction in finished goods and material expenditures through a variety of means which include supplier negotiation/management, resourcing/insourcing/outsourcing product/components, supporting/leading VAVE?s and FAT Model initiatives. The finished good focus is all Tools related product for both the Consumer and Industrial product groups. The region of focus is mainly the US with a strong outsourcing/resourcing shift to China, Taiwan, India, Korea and other LCC countries. This position integrates with European sourcing group to leverage global finished goods buys. Contract negotiation and vendor management is an important facet of the job along with understanding payment terms and driving the reduction of working capital. Ability to push back on all price increases without effecting service and quality is critical in current environment. Total Cost of Ownership is the new focus of the Supply Management organization which drives service, quality and price. Pulsing of market conditions to best manage price is also necessary. Business integration through the PLMT process is essential. Involvement on the Supply Management side following acquisition will also be part of the responsibility. Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in commodity leadership, purchasing and/or project management.

Major Tasks and Level Accountability:

?  Supplier Management/negotiation, direct/joint responsibility with plant personnel

?  Project Management, direct responsibility

?  Product improvement, direct responsibility

?  Cost Down Initiatives, direct responsibility?YOY productivity 5% is goal

?  Working Capital Initiatives, direct responsibility?Improve payment terms

?  Manage $50M North America spend of Purchased Products base in Tools organization

?  General knowledge sourcing of finished goods and integration of suppliers is helpful.

?  Prepare RFP?s and RFQ?s and evaluate supplier proposals.

?  Contract Preparation and negotiation.

?  Global focus in sourcing skills is necessary.

?  Strong track record in driving YOY Productivity and supplier management is required

?  Develop, execute and support strategic sourcing plan to improve service, quality, and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

?  Maintain broad knowledge of worldwide market trends for assigned products.

?  Monitor and coach the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.

?  Effectively lead and communicate up and down the company hierarchy.

?  Effectively support multiple Divisions/Plants across the company. PLMT involvement mandatory.

?  Work closely with people (Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Logistics, etc) across the company to drive success.

?  Manage Price Inflation ?Negate without effecting service and quality


Knowledge and Skills:

?  Excellent Interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills necessary

?  Hand Tools or consumer goods industry experience, Preferred

?  Manufacturing experience, preferred

?  Knowledge of BPCS or other planning software is helpful.

?  Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office) are necessary.

?  Internet Reverse Auction experience is helpful.

?  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks is necessary.

?  Organize and run effective meetings with suppliers and peers.

Education or Experience sought:

?  4 year degree required

?  5 + years industrial experience

?  Masters degree is preferred.

?  Six sigma training is preferred

?  Manufacturing and quality experience preferred

Travel:

?  Global and North America Travel ? 20-40%
