Manager of Banner Product Management
Functional manager for a team of six or more product managers within the Banner suite of products including General, Student, Financial Aid, Advancement, Human Resources, and Finance & A/R. Provide administrative management for the team including, but not limited to team status reports, performance evaluations and other timely employee feedback, time sheet approvals, expense report approvals, assisting in the development of team budgets and support for budget adherence, and serving as a catalyst for communication to and from their team and team members. Build a strong team through mentoring, providing training opportunities, professional development of each team member, and raising the overall level of professional skills and product management knowledge and capabilities. Monitor and analyze overall Banner external product performance including new customers, lost customers, revenues, profitability, and market share. Monitor and analyze overall Banner operational metrics including product quality, adoption, etc. and determine impacts on internal operations. Collaborate with team and develop yearly team initiatives and goals, and work with the team and individual team members to meet the goals. Help define standard practices and ensure their adoption within their team. Quality assure team deliverables for completeness, compliance to standards and practices, and Unified Digital Campus (UDC) orientation. Represent the entire Banner product line to clients, prospects, industry associations, industry analysts, and internal audiences through a variety of communication methods including presentations, Web seminars, teleconferences, memos, etc. Manage escalated client and prospect issues. Provide Product Management coordination across the Banner product line for roadmap planning, client escalations, technology initiatives, national and regional conference participation and presentations, etc. Be accountable for execution of product roadmaps.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree. Experience: Minimum of five years of product management experience within a software company. Extensive experience in determining customer requirements (via research, personal interviews, focus groups, surveys, roundtables, etc.) and translating them into marketing/product requirements and completed products. Experience in product lifecycle management including, but not limited to definition, adoption, and end-of-life or exit strategies. Minimum of two years of management experience with a proven track recording of building strong teams. Strong background in software development process. Background in higher education either as an employee within higher education or as an employee for a company offering products and/or services within higher education. Skills and Competencies: People skills including listening skills, customer focus and interpersonal savvy. Purpose skills including comfort around top management, decision quality, and managing vision. Process skills including business acumen, timely decision making, organizational agility, priority setting and process management. Personal skills including functional/technical skills, perseverance, presentation skills, written communication skills and problem solving skills. Management skills including demonstrated leadership, team building and development, mentoring, goal setting and managing team operational metrics.
Desired Skills:
Education: MBA. Experience managing remote employees. Product management experience working with administrative system/ERP systems with SunGard Higher Educations Banner product a plus.
