PLATO currently has an opening for a creative, motivated, and enthusiastic Product Manager, Sr. to work in our corporate offices in Bloomington, MN.

 

The Product Manager, Sr. is the general manager of the Product or Product Line.  The key role is strategic, not tactical. The Product Manager will determine what should be developed based on the company?s strategic plan, and then work with other areas of the organization to determine how.  PM will manage the product(s) or product line like a business unit, and will have P&L responsibility for the success of the assigned product(s) or product line(s). Some additional responsibilities are as follows:

? Create a product portfolio plan and product roadmap that aligns with the company?s strategic plan as outlined by the Executive Team.  Adjust it as needed to maintain alignment.

? Develop and present product proposals to the CEO for initial investment to research feasibility.

? Work with Functional Managers to assign resources to approved projects.

? Write the product requirements for a funded effort, and ensure that the requirements are adequately planned for in the Functional Specification, Project Plan and other guiding documents as outlined in FLIP.

? Develop the Business Plan for the product proposal and present it to the Investment Review Board (IRB) for funding.  Keep the IRB informed of progress and request funding as appropriate for each FLIP phase in the development cycle.

? Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to build milestone-oriented timelines.

? Using FLIP, lead assigned Product Teams through the development, launch, maintenance and retirement of funded products.

? Analyze and report product adoption and usage in our target markets, and use the information to drive subsequent product strategies.

? Ensure future product releases reflect experience gained from external market activities, customer discussions, usage analysis, competitive response and market research.

? Maintain the communication and sales training tactics through the life of the product or line

? Resolve conflicts as needed.

? Retire old and outdated products

 

The qualifications we are seeking for this position will include a Bachelor?s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or Business related field. We are seeking candidates with 3-5 years of Product Marketing experience preferably within the Education or Software industries. This individual will also have solid PC skills in MS Office and prefer familiarity with PeopleSoft. Some other skills we are seeking include:  Project Management, Stage Gate Process, and Design Surveys for Analysis, Rapid Prototyping, and Portfolio Management.
