Tyco Electronics Power Systems, a division of Tyco Electronics, is a leading global power and components provider and manufacturer of high quality AC-DC and DC-DC power solutions. We are currently seeking a Product Manager to act as an architect for the growth of custom business at Tyco Electronics Power Systems. This position will manage the Custom Power product portfolio and have responsibility for revenue and profitability for this product segment of the business.

We are looking for a Product Manager with a strong desire to get things done, a "can-do" and team oriented, winning attitude. Responsible to drive new business wins, new product development, and release to manufacturing, working closely with project management and engineering development teams.

Maintain product leadership in the marketplace and grow the company's Custom Power revenue to product goals. Identify new product directions and product requirements based on competitive positioning, cost criteria, pricing strategy and market opportunity. Provide tactical support to win new business. A broad understanding of the Power Supply market is desirable.
This motivated individual will lead opportunity assessment, development of a business case analysis and development of a winning quotation. The position requires resourcefulness to champion development of highly advanced custom power products in the target market segments and includes prioritizing projects by estimating the cost, profitability and benefit trade-offs.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

Manage products from inception through product lifecycle. Steer development teams in meeting product specification, maintaining project schedules and attaining manufacturing cost targets and profitability goals. Manage product release and transfer to manufacturing. Manage product cost, pricing and gross margin.
' Develop business cases and obtain executive approvals for product development proposals.
' Coordinate and champion development activities across the product portfolio.
' Work closely with engineering teams to assure that products are developed on schedule, within budget, and meet functional and unit cost specifications.
' Develop and maintain short - and long - term product plans, including lifecycle management
' Monitor Custom Power product sales and pricing trends and margin levels against forecasted contributions
' Prepare analysis and format data to support the annual strategic planning / budgeting process.
' Provide direction and support to the sales force on new and current projects
' Monitor and drive key customer opportunities to ensure success.
' Understand competitive product/technology threats to form defensive product strategies.
' Understand customer/market requirements and opportunities for new products through customer visits and providing information to the Business unit



An ideal candidate will have product management background and business development experience in a fast-paced environment, and experience working with people in a technical and manufacturing environment. A strong working background and knowledge of the power supply industry is beneficial. You should also have excellent follow through and proven project management and negotiating skills. Strong communications and decision-making skills. In addition, experience in strategy planning, implementation, business analysis, forecasting, new product launch, and portfolio management is required. Good judgment and strong business skills are required to make complex decisions relating to product line. High degree of initiative, creativity and technical expertise to make sound business decisions. Strong computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Project) and knowledge of Operations are essential.

Education/Experience:

BSEE and MBA with 6+ years of related experience.
