Principal Quality Control Eng (PSDS2)

Job Description: This position will require extensive interaction with Customers, software and systems engineering as well as interaction with multiple other disciplines. In-depth knowledge of the AS9100/ISO 9001:2000 standard and Quality / Configuration Data Management roles and responsibilities. The individual must be able to work in a rapid response environment and be able to streamline traditional processes to meet the demands of the environment within the parameters of the quality management system.



Additionally, this position will do an evaluation of project work products and processes with respect to contractual and organizational acceptance criteria, ensure adequate root cause analysis and corrective action, attend a variety of reviews including all software-related product and process reviews, review boards, and configuration control boards, conduct various process audits, gather and analyze data for program metrics and provide quality status to project and management stakeholders.



This position will also develop, maintain and control project quality system which is ISO 9000/AS9100 and Engineering process compliant. Ensure design assurance during software engineering planning, design, release, change and verification.

The successful candidate will have to be a catalyst for Performance Excellence and Mission Assurance. This person will be a high energy/self starting individual who questions the status quo in order to be the catalyst for Performance Excellence and Mission Assurance. The candidate must be capable of achieving respect from Engineers as well as the Program Manager and be sought out by the program team for solutions related to program issues and Quality.



The individual will be responsible for:



? Working with the program integrated product teams to ensure compliance to internal and external requirements.

? Identifying and implementing the quality and configuration/data management requirements for the program team regarding software and hardware

? Monitoring and measurement the program?s progress against those requirements

? Manage the configuration of the hardware and software products

? Manage software and hardware change control for the programs

? Evaluate potential suppliers in terms of quality practices, process potential and capability and manufacturing (as applicable) for repeatability/reproducibility.



? Monitoring suppliers to ensure compliance

? Identifying and assisting in development and resolution of corrective action to quality related problems during all phases of the program

? Conducting program quality and configuration audits

? Interfacing and maintaining relationships with the customer and subcontractor quality, configuration/logistics representatives

? Supporting requirements definition, traceability and verification process, identification of and support in verification of Key Quality Characteristics in new designs

? Support proposal efforts by writing sections applicable to the Quality and Configuration/Data Management requirements / capabilities

? Cost Estimating skills for bid preparations




Required Skills:

? Full knowledge of Engineering processes with the emphasis on Software

? Full knowledge of a high order language (e.g. C, C++) processes, software standards and models (e.g. J-STD-16)

? Full knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 and the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI)

? Ability to drive effective Root Cause analysis and Corrective / Preventive Action

? Ability to analyze quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement

? 8 years of quality engineering experience in a hardware/systems development environment and can provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

? 8 years of practical knowledge and experience in software development and configuration control.

? Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and apply decision making skills with minimal supervisory intervention.

? Proven ability to maintain excellent customer and supplier relationships.

? Ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the company and customer community.

? Experienced in the deployment of applied statistics techniques tools and other quality tools to effect program performance improvements.

? Demonstrated proficiency at preparing and presenting upper management and customer presentations.

? Computer proficiency in MS Office products, at least one SPC analysis tool
