Product Development Manager

ATD is a leading supplier of Stationery products.  We are currently experiencing tremendous growth and are seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as Product Development Managers in our Stationery Division.  We are proud of our fun, supportive work environment and are seeking the right people to grow with us. 

The ideal applicant will have a strong product and sourcing background, great project management skills, lots of energy, and a proven record of creating success. With responsibility for multiple product lines, our Product Development Manager will coordinate the entire process from the concept stage to the hand-off to our purchasing department for new product launches.  This is a highly collaborative role, and requires the ability to work well with other departments to accomplish objectives.  Strong experience working on programs for large chain stores would also be an asset.  Job responsibilities include:Provide input into the assortment plan development.Manage the product development calendar, coordinating all support activities in support of the product launch schedule.Develop product specifications, and manage the internal approval process.Collaborate with Design Department on the creative development of products.Identify OEM factory sourcing, working to achieve ATD margin requirements.Communicate with our factories through the product development and manufacturing approval process.Coordinate the hand-off to Purchasing Department of new product launches.Travel to shows in the US & overseas for Trend & Product direction.  In addition, travel to factories in Asia to work on new product concepts and production issues will be required.

SUMMARY / OVERVIEW:

The Product Development Manager will have direct responsibility for development and execution of all new product initiatives for particular product lines within our Stationery Division. This position will require a great deal of collaboration with the Design team, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, and Asian suppliers.

The ideal candidate would have some Gift, Stationery, or Home Decor market knowledge; significant ability to spot trends and market opportunities; as well as excellent planning and organization skills.

Appropriate experience could include a position in product development for a wholesale supplier or a retailer.  Also, previous experience as a Retail Buyer or Assistant Buyer would be attractive. 


This position reports directly to the VP of Product Development.
