Product Manager - Industrial Business Unit

Job Description: As a member of the Industrial Business Unit, you will be responsible for a thorough understanding of our target end users. Within the team, your primary responsibility will be to leverage this knowledge to develop identification products that meet the needs of end users within targeted industrial market segments. Secondary responsibility will be developing product and marketing programs. This position will report to the Global Business Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive the development of new industrial portable printers and tapes by leveraging a thorough understanding of targeted end user segments.

Evaluate, prioritize and justify alternative product ideas and develop supporting financial models and analysis.

Lead the development of product specifications for new products.

Work closely with product development in translating customer requirements into a functional specification utilized for firmware development.

Coordinate beta testing of new products and work closely with product development integrating customer feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.

Utilize project management skills to help facilitate a successful launch, as determined by project being on time, within budget, and achieving the necessary sales targets.

Execute product launch activities including, but not limited to the following activities: assigning part numbers, packaging, artwork, literature, marketing collateral, user manuals, reference guides, checking standard pricing, point-of-purchase displays, etc.

Carry out market research and competitive intelligence related to the industrial business, including investigating new market opportunities.

Monitor market trends in the industry and incorporate into strategies for assigned product line.

Support sales by working with Marketing Management, Field sales, Customers and Distributors on demand creation programs. Direct, coordinate, and support the development and roll out for new product introduction/launch programs.

Manage the P&L for assigned product lines. Develop and manage required product line sales and gross margin goals.

Conduct internal and external product training.

Coordinate new product development for OEM/private label partners.

Develop effective product obsolescence plans.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Engineering or Marketing, MBA or advanced degree a plus.

3-5 years experience as Product Manager, Assistant Product Manager or equivalent.
*
Demonstrable experience researching and understanding end user needs and successfully translating that learning into developing market leading products.

Demonstrable experience leading and launching technology products.
*
Strong project and financial management experience.
*
Excellent interpersonal, communication, management and presentation skills with attention to detail.
*
Strong computer skills and be comfortable with technology products.
*
Willingness to work hard and be capable of working autonomously.
*
Leading, developing and launching technology products within a team environment.
*
Working and communicating within an international environment.
*
Good understanding of the commercial or industrial market.
*
Background in tools, hardware or mechanical devices is preferred.
*
Approximately 25-30% travel time (domestic and international). Travel time may increase during key product development cycles.
