Senior Packaging Equipment Engineer

Primary Purpose of this position:

Introduce new packaging technology into the manufacturing process and/or improve existing equipment to accept new packaging materials and concepts.  This is done by determining the functional requirements of the different operations departments and developing and implementing projects to meet those requirements.

Essential Functions:

?Develop specifications for equipment/line modifications/and or additions

?Develop project resource requirements ? time, $, manpower

?Act as Engineering liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and Package Development Engineering

?Conduct feasibility analysis of new packaging materials on current packaging equipment

?Prepare and submit requests for project funding

?Prepare and submit RFP?s and purchase requisitions for projects

?Coordinate plant and contract personnel with Production and Facilities departments

?Develop engineering designs for equipment/layouts.  Document using CAD

?Schedule and facilitate design and project status meetings with contractors, consultants, plant personnel, and management.  Prepare and develop associated reports as necessary.

?Train plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment/modifications

?Qualify new installations/modifications for production use

?Maintain project documentation

?Assist departments with equipment budget preparation

?Assist Operations with equipment troubleshooting as needed

Experience/Education required:

?BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience

?At least 5 year Project Management experience

Skills and Abilities required:

?Working knowledge of packaging operations in consumer goods manufacturing

?Working knowledge of major packaging, cartoning and bundling equipment manufacturers

?Working knowledge of packaging materials

?Good communication skills ? must be able to develop specifications, proposals, RFP?s and presentations
