Summary:

Looking for the ultimate, experienced Construction Project Manager who can manage multiple new stores and remodel projects.  The Northern California Region currently has 19 stores with many more in development. We plan on opening 3-4 stores per year over the next several years. Rapid growth requires an experienced individual with strong construction project management competencies, excellent communication skills, strong knowledge and skill in grocery store and/or retail design, construction and operations. Extensive experience in new store construction and remodel processes.  Additionally, this individual may be involved in existing physical plant programs including facility repairs and maintenance. Based in Emeryville with travel to regional sites and reports to Regional Construction Director.

 

Will Do:

1.  Partner with Regional Construction team and contribute to the improvement of construction processes to grow and develop region to be the best in the company

2.  Coordinate new store development and remodels with Coordinators and Store Team Leaders; Establish positive relationships and ongoing communication with Coordinators, Store Team Leaders and regional teams

3.  Adhere to all regional and/or national construction and operational standards and objectives

4.  Manage a minimum of five new and/or remodel store construction projects in the range of $15 million each

5.  Direct all phases of construction project management including due diligence, schedule and budget development, planning and design, FF&E procurement and store move coordination; Adhere to approved project budgets and schedules

6.  Be the Whole Foods Market liaison with all WFMs? departments and outside contractors/equipment suppliers / consultants / landlords / governing authorities; Coordinate towards common goals while making critical decisions in a professional manner

7.  Ensure the completion of all punch lists items and follow-up warranty items timely; conduct 11 month warranty inspection with STL; coordinate follow-up work with appropriate General Contractor

8.  Work with regional and store leadership on design of store plan general contractors, vendors and construction community

9.  Work with store leadership on proactive customer communication regarding store changes

10.  Help manage the regional equipment buyer and equipment buying process; Ensure the timely purchase of all store fixtures and equipment as designated by Store Operations and coordinate all deliveries and installations

11.  Perform on site inspections of new store sites and buildings to insure usability and compliance with lease and construction exhibits; Ensure quality workmanship per Whole Foods Market?s plans/specifications

12.  Supervise and perform all aspects of construction administration including negotiating contracts, change orders, project schedules purchase order management, invoicing and project closeout documentation

13.  Maintain excellent records and documentation of costs

14.  Act as support and point person for stores in construction process and promote safety for Team Members at construction sites

 

Must Have/Be:Bachelor of Science Degree ? preferred Architectural/Engineering, Construction Management, or construction-related fieldsMinimum 5 years construction experience, New Store and remodels ? retail or grocery preferredExperience preparing construction budgets and tracking to actual costsFamiliar with store fixturing, planning, operations and merchandisingProficient in computer estimating, scheduling, data base applicationsBasic understanding of food store operationsWillingness to travel throughout region with flexibility to work different hours-including early morning and late night workAbility to effectively organize and handle multiple projects under pressure at one time

?  Exceptional human relationship skills; Exhibit tact in handling challenging situationsAbility to work with design consultants to facilitate development and construction drawings in an effective and timely mannerExcellent knowledge of grocery equipment and fixturesExcellent knowledge of leasing and negotiating construction exhibits
