Director of Planning

Description:

 Identify and implement opportunities to improve Special Olympics Inc. (SOI) planning process. Identify and implement opportunities to improve functionality of the Program Development System (PDS), an online assessment and planning tool used by accredited Special Olympics affiliates. Ensure Regional staff understand usage and benefits of PDS and associated data. Collaboratively develop implementation plans for the key metrics of the Strategic Scorecard.  Perform data analysis of the reported metrics on an annual basis and prepare an annual report of the Strategic Scorecard. Conduct additional analysis as needed which further informs strategies and performance measurement.  Assist the Sr. Director of Strategic Planning to develop and implement an external business intelligence function ? identify events, legislation, trends, competitors that have implications for the mission, business and priorities. Identify opportunities and threats that may impact strategies and develop appropriate recommendations. Assist the Sr. Director of Strategic Planning to monitor assumptions incorporated in the 2006-2010 Strategic Plan and to track the Plan's implementation and communication with key stakeholders. Assist the Sr. Director of Strategic Planning in the execution of SOI's annual planning process. Support Strategic Investments through analysis that informs utilization and allocation of investment resources. Identify and develop strategic planning resources linked to the Program Development process for use by Program leaders. Support Program Development through PDS training and promotion of resources and tools to Regional staff. Provide consulting support as requested.

 

Qualifications:

 5+ years relevant experience Strong analysis and research capabilities Advanced degree in marketing, economics, or business administration / nonprofit administration strongly preferred Excellent writing verbal and visual presentation skills Proven consulting and relationship management skills Experience in nonprofit development, a plus Experience defining functional requirements for applications or business processes, a plus
