Manager, Transit Projects

 The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is currently looking for a Manager, Transit Projects. Primary responsibilities include administering and monitoring assigned portions of the five-year capital programs launched since 1982 to renew and improve the systems of MTA?s agencies (i.e. New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, MTA Bridges and Tunnels, MTA Bus, Capital Construction Company).  This work supports the division?s capital program development and oversight missions, enabling the MTA to plan for and award long- and short-term projects in a cost-effective and timely manner and in adherence to MTA Capital Program guidelines and objectives. Other duties include reviewing and making recommendations related to capital investment plans, monitoring the progress of ongoing capital projects, identifying key issues and developing appropriate solutions. The manager will also make decisions on the release of capital funding for projects in development, conceive, coordinate, execute and present original analysis of capital program performance and capital program issues and act as an information resource for MTA management in issues related to an assigned area of the capital program. Managing special projects and assignments, coordinating activities of peers and supervise subordinate staff as necessary will also be required.
Qualified candidates must possess a Master's degree in public policy or administration, business administration or related field is strongly preferred and may substitute for job-related experience.  This position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience and a proven track record in project and/or budget management.
A strong working knowledge of financial planning, budget and project management is essential, as is a solid understanding of statistical and financial analysis techniques is imperative. Superior fluency in the use of client-server tools for analysis and decision-making and experience with capital construction, transportation, and/or information technology is desired. We strongly recommend that qualified individuals interested in this job opening apply by e-mail.
