Motorcycle & Safety Standards Coordinator

The Oregon Department of Transportation was established in 1969 to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians. ODOT develops programs related to Oregon's system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation. MOTORCYCLE & SAFETY STANDARDS COORDINATOR

The Motorcycle & Safety Standards Coordinator provides expertise in the Transportation Safety Division's vehicle and equipment safety standards by developing related technical information for communication with the general public, legislature, businesses, associations, local agencies and other governmental entities. The position is responsible for vehicle equipment standards; Worker Transport Safety Code; research and recommending emergency vehicle designations; and establishing vehicle inspection standards. This position is located in Salem.

As a Motorcycle & Safety Standards Coordinator you will:
- Develop and implement vehicle and safety equipment standards in compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules. Provide team leadership with Attorney General's Office, federal agencies, other state agencies, legislators, businesses and citizens in the development of standards and legislative concepts.
- Provide guidance and interpretation of the Worker Transport Safety Code to public transit districts, federal agencies and the general public.
- Serve as the agency expert to law enforcement, hospitals and other emergency care providers in the interpretation and administration of the Emergency Vehicle Designation program.
- Staff the Governor's Advisory Committee on Motorcycle Safety and provide team leadership in the development and implementation of the program. Manage the OSU TEAM Oregon grant by conducting research and making recommendations for certified trainer programs, rider education courses and training sites.
- Act as the department public information liaison by developing brochures, pamphlets and agency web site information for use by citizens, businesses, courts, law enforcement agencies and other organizations.

Position Qualifications include:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences; and four years experience coordinating or administering a program, OR
- Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience administering or coordinating a program.
