The Principal Planner - Development Areas primary responsibilities are to assist the Director and/or the Chief in the management of policies of the Comprehensive Plan and the development review process as regards the County?s designated Development Areas.Functions include oversight of comprehensive and neighborhood planning projects, with emphasis on land use and community planning, and management of the zoning amendment and special use permit processes. The Principal Planner is expected to possess a high level of technical expertise and professionalism and to exercise a high level of independence with minimal day-to-day oversight. Management level decisions regarding assigned responsibilities may be delegated to the Principal Planner, including the management of staff as necessary for assigned projects.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of the philosophies, principles, practices and techniques of urban planning as they pertain to the design and development of urban areas, planning research, zoning and community development activities; ability to coordinate and manage the review of complex projects by project teams and present the results effectively in oral, written and graphic form.  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, supplemented by a master?s degree in urban and/or regional planning, and a minimum of three years experience in professional planning work.  Experience in local government with project management, conditional zoning, and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. 

 SALARY:  $49,916 - $64,890/Annually, depending on experience and qualifications.  DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS:  Open until filled
