 PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

 

The selected candidate will be the Program Manager for communications architecture working groups chartered for purpose of design and resourcing of radio frequency (RF), video, and internet protocol networks using non-developmental items (NDI) and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions.  

As Program Manager, responsibilities include:

-Negotiating both schedule and technical contracts with manufacturers, subcontractors, and customers as well as program funding, strategic program and project planning, task formulation and prioritization.

-Planning, installing, and operating beyond-line-of-sight communications and multi-level security network systems in both austere and urban environments.

-Developing requirements specifications, test plans, installation verification plans, and operations and maintenance procedures for deployed software and network systems.

-Design of secure, encrypted, high-availability, media redundant IP based WAN topologies and development of systems test and integration plans.

-Author systems architecture guides, software requirements specifications; integration, verification, and validation plans, technical and financial schedules and customer presentations to include field assessment.

-Architecture integration development and compliance of military tactical devices, sensors and systems for incorporation in the global information grid (GIG).

-Design and integrate an ad-hoc wireless sensor network.

 

The qualified candidate will have a BA/BS and 10 years directly related experience or MA/MS and 8 years directly related experience or a PhD and 6 years directly related experience. Must have experience with high and low power RF systems, cryptological equipment, multiplexing schemes, telecommunications, internet protocol networking, video-teleconference (VTC) systems and satellite systems.  Working understanding of variants of 802.11 (infrastructure/ad hoc/MANet) employment, 802.16 back haul and 802.20 mobility concept is required.
