PROGRAM MANAGER, CONSUMER ELECTRONICS PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Steward assigned product programs through product development process to achieve, desired definition, specification, time-to-market, quality and acquisition goals. Take overall ownership of programs and ensure success.

Author detailed product-related requirements documents, synthesizing technical and program requirements from marketing requirements. Effectively utilize subject matter experts from within the organization to create such documents.

Serve as product champion, ensuring that technical and program requirements are met to original intent and on-time.

Develop program team architectures utilizing internal resources, suppliers, technology partners, and inter-divisional/corporate resources.

Create Request For Quotation packages and work closely with Global Purchasing to select required suppliers. Lead detailed supplier evaluation efforts.

Develop detailed team execution and timing plans to bring required products to market.

Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing Residents, Contract Manufacturers, and Component Suppliers to ensure flawless execution and launch of products.

Drive timely development and approval of in-box printed materials (User Manuals and documentation, Quick Start Guides, and any other required items) to support product.

Work closely with internal and external groups to successfully execute programs on an enterprise basis, such as Marketing, Demand Planning, Quality, Return Center, Supplier Quality, Technical Customer Service, Packaging, and Brand Communications.

Maintain physical product, as well as in-carton contents, through its lifecycle by driving action plans that address quality issues, communications, and cost reduction opportunities.

Utilize in-depth knowledge and experience to contribute substantially to Technical Marketing activities for the business, including analyzing current and future technology and its effect on competitiveness of current and future products. Assist in the development of technology, platform, and product roadmaps.

REQUIREMENTS:

5-7 years minimum of true electronics product design engineering experience, preferably in entertainment or consumer electronics.

A deep understanding of at least one of the following:

- Mechanical design and packaging for electronic devices.

- Electronic and/or RF design and layout for electronic devices.

- Embedded hardware/software design for electronic devices.

Previous experience with actually launching electronic products into the target market for the product of interest.

Substantial experience with interfacing with electronics production manufacturing plants to build and launch products.

Significant experience in defining product development timing plans and a proven track record in executing those plans.

Experience writing detailed technical and program requirements documents.

Consistent demonstration of team leadership capabilities to drive desired product and program results.

Demonstrated understanding of business case development and factors that affect whether or not a program will be successfully profitable.

The ability to communicate and direct individuals, groups, and entities critical to the success of the program. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required.

Shown ability to operate successfully in a corporate environment, including reporting out to senior management, respecting protocol and authority, and managing organizational expectations.

Demonstrated interest in areas outside of design engineering (business planning, supply chain, manufacturing, marketing).

Advanced user of Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

Moderate travel may be required (10-20 percent). 50 percent of travel may be international.

Previous consumer electronics experience with mobile electronics (and advanced applications such as voice recognition), wireless technologies (such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi), and embedded product development experience is highly desirable.

Direct experience with satellite radio and navigation a major plus.

EDUCATION:

Requires a Bachelor?s degree in electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering. An MBA is preferred, but not required provided candidate has a minimum of five to seven years of related experience in an electronic product design environment.
