PROJECT MANAGER - TRAVEL SYSTEMS

Basic Purpose

Represents the business needs of Maritz Travel Company (MTC), for the development and deployment of attendee web registration and reporting sites supporting client meetings and user conferences. Responsible for effective and efficient solutions for business needs, primarily through the planning, design, managing, and implementation of web based registration solutions which support the business objectives of MTC and its clients. This includes leading diverse teams the members of which include Developers, Editors, Testers, Creative Producers, Graphic Artists, and Analysts.

Scope

No direct reports. Leads approximately 30-35 projects per year. Plans and manages medium and large mission critical projects. They typically each range from approximately $5,000 to $100,000 in cost. Handles special assignments as requested by manager.


Reporting and Working Relationships

Reports to a Director in MTC Interactive Group Technology (IGT). Works with external and internal clients, which includes MTC Operations, Attendee Management, development teams, management, as well as supporting other IGT team members. The development team includes Developers, Editors, Testers, Creative Producers, Graphic Artists, and Analysts. People from these six groups can make up the project team for each project this person is leading.

 

 

Responsibilities

Manages web projects, which includes developing and managing project budgets, time lines, requirements documents and change management along with leading the project development team.

 

Directs and participates in the requirements gathering, definition and design of assigned projects. Conducts requirements gathering meetings with client, Operations and Attendee Management. Conducts meetings to develop the appropriate solution. Participates in presentation of requirements documents to obtain client buy-in and approval, if required.

 

Directs the programming, testing and implementation of assigned projects, which includes conducting meetings with development and testing team members to review all requirements and communicate the required budget and timeline.

 

Ensures adherence to all department standards including those for MTC systems/applications, and to the delivery of high quality products and services through good leadership and management, which includes participation in determining what certain standards might be.

 

Participates with management, other team members and other systems/application teams in the development and implementation of an efficient and effective process methodology for delivering solutions, which includes working with team members and management in the selection and implementation of techniques and tools to deploy the standard process methodology.

 

Remains current with industry trends and technology.

 

Reports status on all assigned projects to clients, management and MTC Operations.

 

 

Qualifications

(1) Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience in project management required, or equivalent experience. (2) Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience in managing system/application development projects required, or equivalent experience. (3)  Experience with PCs, LANS, and Microsoft Office required.
