Program Director description

Highly experienced project management professional responsible for managing the business components of project  initiatives.  Responsible for the development and ongoing management of one or more projects that are multi-state, multi-function and multi-year in scope. Provides leadership to other project managers. Typically interacts with Executive Sponsors and Stakeholders, often in a consultant capacity. Program directors typically oversee projects that require managing activities and resources of multiple departments or business areas of the organization and frequently interact with IT and Enterprise project sponsors and teams. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: coordinates and manages the development, approval, implementation and compliance of on-going projects; establishes project governance when needed to assure response to issue escalation; develops project budget; ensures project meets its stated objectives; provides subject matter expertise in response to day to day business issues; researches applicable subject matter practices and remains aware of industry trends; coordinates training related to project; develops project success measures and performs periodic assessments of project success; and performs other duties as assigned.

 

Project Manager, Sr. description

Experienced project management professional with experience managing the business components of project  initiatives. Works independently with business partners to identify and implement medium to large projects, as defined by WellPoint methodology, that support achievement of simple to complex unit or corporate goals. Projects may be business and/or technical (software implementation or application updates) in nature. Responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. In addition to all responsibilities of a project manager which include managing all aspects of a project including initiating, planning, executing, closing and controlling, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coaches and mentors project team members, mentors other project managers around project management methodology; determines project scope; develops resource, risk quality, cost and scope management plans; and develops training plans.

 



Program Director requirements

BA/BS degree and 8-10 years of experience in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Graduate degree and/or professional designation related to field preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Proven planning and organization skills to ensure development and maintenance of relationships across organization. Understanding of complex business processes required. Project management experience within the health insurance industry required. Health insurance product implementation a plus.  Some travel required.

 

Project Manager, Sr. requirements

BA degree and 5-10 years of project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Project management certification preferred. Demonstrated application of and proven success of project management methodology, management tools, analysis and research tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools required. Experience in coaching and mentoring project team members preferred. Experience in creating an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiation, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, managing resources in a matrix environment, communicating and influencing effectively at all levels of an organization required. Demonstrated application of project management methodology required. Project management experience within the health insurance industry required. Health insurance product implementation a plus.  Requires a solid understanding of Information Systems and an understanding of the overall organization. Some travel is required.

 

NOTE:  We currently have one opening for either position.  The level will be based on the candidates' skills,  experience and education.  Position is regional so depending on hiring incumbent, location may be in any of our Anthem East site locations,  CT, NH or ME.
