Growing fast-paced diversified Southern California-based Event Planning
Company with offices across the United States seeks an assertive,
self-motivated, and highly organized Project Accounting Business Analyst
for their New York and Detroit offices.

Summary:

The Project Accounting Business Analyst is responsible for supporting
the Segment Head in coordinating business unit requirements with the
corporate finance team. This includes project analysis, segment gross
margin analysis, contract review, revenue recognition analysis, accounts
receivable past due collection support, sales and cash forecasting,
annual budgeting and quarterly revisions.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining job costing records
related to production events, tracking budgets/forecasts to actual and
keeping exposure to un-accrued expenses or billings to a minimum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Coordinate all Corporate Finance Requirements for the Segment
Head
* Analyze and model segment revenue and gross margin
* Coordinate all segment revenue and gross margin reporting, to
include solving issues and auditing budgets and contracts for GAAP
compliance.
* Communicate across the business segments on multiple revenue
elements.
* Drive monthly close process for business segment.
* Drive annual budget process for business segment, including
quarterly and interim revisions.
* Drive collections process for business segment.

Job Cost Functions:

* Set up all local jobs in MRP system at time of contract sign
off.
* Ensure accuracy of jobs loaded into MRP system.
* Review open projects are accurate with budget, forecast, change
orders and appropriate documentation.
* Confirm job related expenses are accurate and compare variances
to forecast.
* Research variances and close issues prior to month end closing.
* Budget review with production team.
* End of month journal entries for deferred revenue, prepaid
expenses and deferred expenses related to production jobs.
* Review gross margin report and investigate variances from
expectations.
* Perform month end reconciliations for all jobs in territory.

The preferable candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a
Business Analyst and an undergraduate degree in accounting/finance. The
candidate selected will have the ability to work well on a team and
independently. The candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and written
communication skills and posses analytical experience with attention to
detail. A working knowledge of ACCPAC is a plus and Micro Soft Office
Suite advanced Excel applications skill level is required.
