Project Manager / Six Sigma
PROJECT MANAGER
A large, travel related services firm has an opportunity for a Project Manager that has some experience in Sigma Lean or Six Sigma methodology (Transactional environment strongly preferred). The position is located in Central Phoenix.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The position reports to the Sr. Project Manager, Six Sigma Lean Black Belt.
As a member of the Administrative Team, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing of a variety of business projects; and assist in integrating the Sigma Lean process management and design strategies into the business as appropriate.
This individual will manage business projects and be responsible for expectations, deliverables, costs and resources, outcomes, issues, needs and constraints involved by all parties for optimal customer satisfaction. This person will also assists Sigma Lean Greenbelts with their process improvement projects and training activities across all functional areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Project Management:
a. Capable of providing an overview of the project big picture and components.
b. Establish a staffing plan including project team selection, and ensuring the proper number of resources and skill sets are committed throughout project life cycle.
c. Accountable for creating and managing the project budget.
d. Establishes and implements a communication plan including regular team meetings, status reporting and marketing of project successes.
e. Responsible for project scheduling, including identification of project milestones.
f. Develops the baseline project plan including valid and meaningful relationships.
g. Works with team to define level of effort estimates.
h. Updates and adjusts the plan for progress and changes.
i. Validates monitors and manages scope through coordination of the requirements process.
j. Establishes a risk management plan and monitor risks.
2. Manages subcontractor/vendor relationship and deliverables.
a. Develops the project configuration management plan.
b. Ensures deliverable quality.
c. Leads and facilitates issue resolution and the decision making process.
d. Develops key relationships both internal and external.
3. Presents results, obtains or presents technical data; frequent contact with high level decision makers both internal and external; negotiates critical issues; acts as primary point of contact.
4. Conducts training workshops on fundamentals of project management.
5. Assists Sigma Lean Black Belt and Project Coordinator with Greenbelt process improvement projects and training activities across all functional areas and integrates Sigma Lean process management and design strategies into the business as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:5 years experience including 2 years full project management.Sigma Lean or Six Sigma experience required (certification a plus).PMP certification or coursework also a plus.
Skills:Excellent oral and written communication skillsProcess Management/Improvement experience required (Transactional Six Sigma)Knowledge of and proficient use of standardized PM practices, principles, techniques, and methodologies.
Education:Requires Bachelor?s degree in Marketing/Business or commensurate experience.
