Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Description:
The Planning Division coordinates land use policy, new park development initiatives and environmental reviews for the Parks Department. It also leads the agency?s involvement in complex and large-scale development projects that may include other government agencies and community stakeholders.
We seek a professional individual with experience in Project Management. The Senior Project Manager will Perform an array of duties as necessary to advance a small portfolio of complex development projects, including general planning tasks associated with scheduling, intra- and interagency coordination, design coordination, project budgeting, regulatory compliance issues and the procurement of consultant services. Serve as a primary liaison between Planning and the agency?s Capital Projects division, solicit feedback on design, construction and capital budget issues. Coordinate critiques and/or assessments of open space planning and design projects that are external to the agency?s own capital program such as Hudson River Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Utilize the assistance of a Special Projects Manager within the Planning division on more complex development projects. Serve as a resource for Planning?s Borough Project Managers on projects involving design, construction or project budget matters. Prepare and edit well-written reports, memoranda and correspondence concerning assigned projects.
Qualifications:
A baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration or public administration and five years of full time experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering, design, and/or constructions, or coordinating a very large engineering project; or equivalent education and experience required. Two years of experience in management or supervisory capacity or equivalent education and experience is required.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Design or 10 years of experience in one of these fields.
At least five years of Senior Project Management Experience with New York City public capital projects, and familiarity of their associated design, construction and contracting processes.
Familiarity with the management of public facilities, particularly public open spaces.
Experience as a Senior Manager for a complex development project involving numerous government agencies, several funding sources and multiple stakeholders, on a tight timeframe.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Proficiency in computer software, including various Microsoft applications, AutoCAD, PhotoShop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and ArcGIS.
Valid New York State driver license.
