Senior Region Planner

The Oregon Department of Transportation was established in 1969 to provide a safe, efficient transportation system that supports economic opportunity and livable communities for Oregonians. ODOT develops programs related to Oregon's system of highways, roads, and bridges; railways; public transportation services; transportation safety programs; driver and vehicle licensing; and motor carrier regulation.

SENIOR REGION PLANNER

The Senior Region Planner is responsible for working with a variety of internal and external partners to create comprehensive long-range transportation system development solutions which respect and balance the needs and concerns of all affected parties. This position is located in Springfield.

As Senior Region Planner, you will:
- Assist Region Planning Manager and Area 5 Manager in determining program priorities.
- Select contractor teams to accomplish transportation planning and solution projects and activities, including preparing solicitations for contractor services, preparation of work programs, developing, executing, and managing contractor contracts in support of transportation planning and solution projects and activities,
- Evaluate the work quality, completion of work tasks, and payment for work performed by contractor teams.
- Lead project teams in a collaborative manner, in transportation planning and solution of projects.
- Incorporate the findings of the collaborative planning process into local comprehensive
- plans and ordinances.
- Represent ODOT during local government land use proceedings in reviews of proposed plan amendments and site developments.
- Participate in project development teams for construction projects.

Position Qualifications include:
- A Bachelor's degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Social Science, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field (may insert other appropriate fields or areas of study); and two full years of planning experience equivalent to a Planner 2 with the State of Oregon, having responsibility for complex urban or regional plans or studies involving multiple issues and may have required coordinating the work of other planners; OR
- A Master's degree in Urban or Regional Planning or an equivalent field; and one full year of planning experience equivalent to a Planner 2 with the State of Oregon, having responsibility for complex urban or regional plans or studies involving multiple issues, and which may have required coordinating the work of other planners; OR
- Five years of experience which included planning experience involving collecting and analyzing (including statistical analysis) data, identifying future trends, and preparing technical papers and reports with recommendations. Two full years of this experience must be performing planning at a journey level, having responsibility for complex plans or studies involving multiple issues, and which may have required coordinating the work of other planners.
- Preference may be given to persons possessing American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
