Special Projects Coordinator

DEFINITION:  Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Health and Nutrition Services, is responsible for planning, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring various special projects, as assigned, and related to health promotion and nutrition.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

?  Master's Degree in Health, Nutrition, or a Bachelor?s Degree.

 

Experience:

?  Minimum of four years experience in Community Health and/or Nutrition Services provided to older adults required.

?  Must be able plan, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and monitor assigned special projects, as assigned.

?  Must be knowledgeable with current health, nutrition, and aging literature.

 

Personal Characteristics:

 

?  Possesses excellent communication and organizational skills and has ability to handle multiple projects and time lines.

?  Possesses a valid driver?s license.

?  Highly dependable.

?  Able to function independently, and work as a team player.

 

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

 

a. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams of health and nutrition professionals, students, aging network staff, and older adults in planning and implementation of special health promotion and nutrition projects.

b.  Performs ongoing contract management activities of selected Health Promotion & Nutrition programs.

c. Performs and coordinates required nutrition monitoring inspections of Senior Community Centers, Meal Satellite Programs, and Adult Day Care facilities; provides technical assistance, involving compliance and performance issues, takes corrective action as necessary, and prepares necessary reports.

d. Develops protocols for Nutrition Screening Initiative interventions (NSI) for senior center use and develops/provides training and technical assistance for senior center staff responsible for intervention implementation.  Develops a plan to track, assess, and interpret the data from the NSI assessment forms.

e. Assists in the development of a nutrition-related newsletter for congregate-meal-site staff and contributes and coordinates the distribution of Nutrition Matters, a health column for home-delivered-meal consumers. Contributes to Health Matters, the monthly health promotion column.

f.  Assists in the development/revision of the congregate and home-delivered meal specifi-cations and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

g. Works with Health Promotion and Nutrition staff in the development of new initiatives, revision of program specifications, and pursuing community collaborations.

h. Performs other duties as assigned.
