Sr Facilities Project Manager

Celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston on the sprawling campus of the Texas Medical Center. It is one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

M. D. Anderson was created by the Texas Legislature in 1941 as a component of The University of Texas System, and the faculty numbers 947 - both M.D.s and Ph.D.s. M. D. Anderson is one of the nation's original three Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Act of 1971 and is one of 39 such centers today.

1. Coordinates and provides support and guidance to other designated project team representatives during program verification and design phases of major capital projects. Manages appropriate reviews of all project documents during all design phases with the designated project team representatives, and institutional departments.

2. Facilitates and coordinates the development of final contract construction documents. Maintains responsibility for bidding, negotiating and implementation of all contracting methods required to support the construction phases of projects.

3. Ensures that effective project processes are in place; coordinates, monitors and evaluates project control including scheduling requirements, operations impacts, utility outages and other formatted contract correspondence.


4. Assists the Director of Capital Planning and Management and Office of Facilities Planning and Construction (OFPC) to determine which project delivery method is most advantageous for UTMDACC for a given project.


5. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the project budget using standardized forms.


6. Works with U.T. System OFPC representatives as part of the project team, with specific responsibilities assigned by the Director of Capital Planning and Management and the OFPC Director.


7. Oversees and verifies that all project correspondence files are maintained, kept current, and distributed in a timely fashion.


8. Coordinates quality control efforts through inspection processes, utilizing team representatives, and institutional staff, or other designated appointees.


9. Assists the Manager of Project Management on all required issue resolutions with the Contractor and A/E or other appropriate consultants.


10. Schedules and coordinates the activities of the project team members during the transition from construction phases to commissioning to move/activation phases of all projects.

11. Responsible for contract closeout requirements, warranty response information and final acceptance documents, and one-year warranty claims.

12. Performs other project duties as required to ensure that operations are efficient, assets are safe guarded, financial information is reliable and that all rules, codes of conduct, and regulations are followed.


13. Assists in the development of project budget estimates and CIP submittals.


14. Communicates to CPM staff, those design issues and their outcomes, addressed during implementation of major projects, that impact finish standards, template technical specifications, and life safety considerations for purposes of providing design continuity throughout the institution.

15. Assists the Manager, A/E Services to maintain template construction contract documents and specifications.




EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or other construction related Architectural Engineering fields or related discipline. Ten years of project management/Construction experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the required degree on a one-for-one basis.

Preferred: Design and Construction experience with major academic healthcare and/or research facilities
