Team Leader - Substation Control - Transmission

Summary of Position Duties

This position is an exempt level position and is located in Forest Park, Georgia . The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of 6 engineers / designers and 2-4 CAD drafters responsible for engineering the control systems design for transmission and distribution substation projects. The individual must provide intense mentoring of assigned team members to accelerate their overall growth and development and must provide performance management as well as preparation of performance appraisals and development plans for the team members.

Job Experience and Education

Successful candidates for this position should have previously demonstrated strong abilities in transmission substation control design and application. This design experience should include the publication of final electrical control drawings and field support of test engineers. Applicants must have a minimum of 15 years substation control design or related experience. Experience should be in addition to technical education in mechanical, or electrical engineering or engineering technology. Four-year degree in Engineering preferred specifically in the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical or Engineering Technology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge in specific details of control design of Southern Company and/or Georgia Power substations is a plus. Demonstrated ability to successfully mentor less experienced individuals is a must. Enhanced negotiation skills are very desirable in this position.

Other Requirements

Applicants who do not possess either a valid PE License or appropriate Engineering Degree must have a minimum of 20 years proven substation control design experience gained through working with electrical utility companies.
