Science, Technical and Medical publishes the most renowned and respected reference works in architecture, engineering, aviation, electronics, technical trades, and medicine, and is an industry leader in emerging fields such as robotics, telecommunications, and audio/video technology.  We are seeking an experienced Acquisitions Editor who will be be responsible for acquiring, developing and publishing a minimum of 18 books annually in the consumer division of McGraw-Hill Professional. Target publishing areas include sports instructional, sports reference, and some sports narrative:Work closely with authors to develop and refine book content. Work with authors to finalize manuscripts, making sure that all projects adhere to the high standards of the division. Successfully negotiate author contracts, including advances, royalty rates, licensing, etc. Prepare a profit and loss (P&L) statement on each project Work independently on the sports list, creating a balanced list across the year and three publishing seasons Work closely with marketing and sales personnel to ensure that books meet the needs of the target markets Stay abreast of sports trends and issuesThe editor will have annual frontlist sales goal  

Bachelor's degree Minimum of 5 years related acquisitions experience Knowledge of the sports book market, publishing and the acquisitions process Strong communication skills a must
