Analyst - Broadband

JupiterKagan, Inc. is searching for a full-time Analyst. This position is available in either NYC or San Francisco, CA.
JupiterKagan, Inc. provides unbiased research, analysis and advice, backed by proprietary data, to help companies profit from the business impact of Internet and emerging consumer technologies. JupiterKagan is based in New York City with offices in California and Europe.

As a broadband analyst at JupiterKagan, you will deliver research that helps our ISP, telco, and cable clients effectively design, market, and sell Internet access services, and related premium security, information, and entertainment services. While the service primarily focuses on broadband (that is, high speed data) services, you will also speak to and advise clients with dial-up service offerings. The coverage area extends to other telecommunications services (e.g., traditional or voice over IP-based telephony, pay TV, etc.) to the extent that those services are part of strategic bundles of services.
Additionally, via an expertise on broadband consumers and services, your input will help inform other Jupiter research in vertical industries including retail and financial services, helping those clients understand and target broadband consumers. You will also work with experts in survey design and forecast modeling to design research strategies and write research reports. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, fielding inquiries by phone and presenting research to clients on site.
JupiterKagan?s Broadband coverage area is one of our most popular. It tracks the transition of high speed Internet access from luxury to ubiquity. The research identifies the most attractive combinations of value-added services, premium content, and multi-service bundles for broadband providers. It forecasts the growth of disruptive applications (e.g., voice over IP) and access technologies (e.g., WiMAX), helping providers accurately assess and respond to these threats?or opportunities. It also examines broadband partnership strategies, delivering prescriptive advice for firms that want to team with broadband providers to tap into their audience.
Responsibilities: Maintain expertise on trends and innovations in marketing and delivering Internet access services; Follow premium online services, and offline telecoms and entertainment service, to the extent that they are part of service bundles with Internet access; Responsively answer client inquiries by phone; Build and maintain relationships with leading consumer ISPs, cable operators, and local exchange carriers, and key vendors serving those industries; Speak at industry events; Identify opportunities to propose custom research solutions to client questions; Write research reports (yearly deliverables include nine 5-8 page topic-specific reports and three longer, 25+ page visionary reports on major industry trends), create PowerPoint presentations; Help design JupiterKagan's broadband research agenda and set and achieve deadlines for research design, execution, report writing; Help design consumer surveys and other key primary research tools to maintain a clear understanding of consumers? attitudes toward Internet access providers; Work with the JupiterKagan research sales team on request to develop demonstrate the value of a JupiterKagan research relationship to sales prospects and help develop new business.
Job Requirements: Minimum 3-5 years' experience working for or writing about consumer-focused Internet access providers, preferably from a business development or strategic marketing perspective; Interest in/knowledge of home networking or voice over IP services, from an end-user perspective, also very helpful; Bachelors degree with strong academic record; masters degree preferred; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong analytic ability (critical thinking & data analysis); Ability to articulate and substantiate strong point of view; Poised and authoritative presence when speaking to senior executives and the press; Ability to travel as needed.
