Bindery Technician I

Ensures that production goals are met.
Troubleshoots problems to maintain quality standards and to keep binding line equipment in running condition - request maintenance as required.
Examines product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications.
Pulls and inspects hourly run samples and notifies the Bindery Leader in the event quality standards are not being met.
Cleans, lubricates and maintains assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.
May run the binding line in absence of the Bindery Leader.
May coordinate the assignment of crewmembers.
May provide training for new team members.
Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Some understanding of general binding and binding theory knowledge is helpful.
- Safety oriented.
-Meets acceptable attendance requirements.
- Knowledgeable of and a leader in general plant safety to include machine guarding, personal protective equipment, appropriate chemical handling and storage, and ergonomics.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers (internal and external).
- Strong attention to detail, ability to read fine print, read and understand complex job instructions.
- Knowledgeable of and personally committed to concepts of high employee involvement, continuous process improvement, and diversity.
- Must possess strong leadership, coaching, planning and organizational skills and be innovative and customer-focused.
- Be highly motivated and committed to continuous process improvement.
- Be willing to teach and train people.
- Basic mechanical skills, ability to troubleshoot machine operations.
- Proven ability to meet performance standards and achieve goals.
- Must be able and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime as needed.
- Must not currently be on a Final Warning in positive counseling
- Repetitive lifting up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 pounds with an assist.
- Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Frequent walking up and down stairs.
- Limited overhead reaching.
- Repetitive motion.
- Ability to differentiate objects, materials or details on the basis of color.
- Must be in good performance standing.
