Job Title: Design & Manufacturing Coordinator

Department: Design & Manufacturing

Reports To: Director of Design & Manufacturing

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under direction of Production Manager/Products coordinates the process of product development from editorial approved manuscript to camera-ready art and printed product. Involves internal production process and assistance in purchasing outside graphics and printing services.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist in the preparation of P&Ls for initial price decisions at production stage when page count is determined and for final setting of quantity for ordering for Regal, Youth and Adult lines
2. Assist in preparation of P&Ls for other departments when they are unable to do their own.
3. Prepare estimates and final billing information for special customers on reprint as well as new product orders
4. Check products for correct pagination and design as needed
5. For certain projects, work with Marketing to incorporate ad pages for books/curriculum when blank pages are available
6. Prepare templates for package designers for covers/jackets after final pagination is established for Regal, Youth and Adult lines
7. Provide all final paperwork to generate Purchase Orders for all Regal Books, Youth and Adult Products
8. Prepare estimates and final billing information for special customers on reprint as well as new product orders
9. Check products for correct pagination and design
10. Work with Marketing to incorporate ad pages for books/curriculum when blank pages are available
11. There will be miscellaneous job functions including filing, photocopying and shipping which are not specified above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Degree or equivalent experience in graphic design. Proficient in Filemaker Pro, Excel, Word, with knowledge of design software such as Quark, Illustrator, PhotoShop
2. Knowledge and experience working with graphic arts processes, monitoring quality control issues related to these processes
3. Knowledge of bookmaking processes (bindings, finishes, embellishments, use of materials, etc.)
4. Organization and planning abilities related to scheduling and prioritizing within the production process
5. Balancing of many responsibilities at the same time; able to adapt to frequent interruptions and stay on target with projects
6. Attention to detail. Must have proofreading skills, able to spot errors
7. Good command of the English language; grammar and writing skills
8. Ability to work interdepartmentally, at all levels within the company
9. A sense of humor
