Editorial Assistant-Journals Editorial Acquisitions

SAGE Publications, a privately owned, multi-national leading academic and professional publisher of books, journals, and electronic media, located in Thousand Oaks, California, with offices in London and India, is currently seeking an Editorial Assistant for Journals Acquisitions. The Editorial Assistant will provide administrative support for editors and will coordinate editorial projects. Interact professionally with authors, potential authors, reviewers, customers, and in house staff in all departments.

Responsibilities:

SAGE Publications is searching for a very organized and detailed-oriented individual to support an Acquisitions Editor by performing a variety of clerical, administrative and editorial functions. The individual will juggle several time-sensitive projects at once, handle transmittal of final manuscripts to Production, which includes but is not limited to: assessing completeness of final manuscript and suitability of art and other illustrations assessing status of permissions, preparing appropriate forms. Coordinate peer review process, plan special events, make travel arrangements, sort and prioritize incoming mail, maintain files, enter data into spreadsheets and databases, develop and prepare reports as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred. One to two years of office experience. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. An interest in a career in publishing strongly preferred. Also needs excellent telephone manners, good verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and work independently.
