DGA Graphic Designer I employees earn $522.00 per week to start, and are eligible for regular pay increases every six months. JOB DUTIES:

The primary duty of our Graphic Designer I position is to compose and edit In-Column Ads, assuring all standards, graphic specifications, rules and guidelines set by AT&T Yellow Pages are met.

In addition, you may also be required to perform text entry, art creation and ad composition functions necessary to create and complete ads using an electronic workstation. Manipulates text and graphics to accommodate a wide range of design specifications. Performs an analysis of ad content to ensure that all standards are followed and the ad is created according to the subscribers? specifications and instructions. The Graphic Designer I is responsible for composing the complete ad, from entering text through ad layout, using basic special effects, art pickups, and then proofing the finished product.

Duties also generally include, but are not limited to the following:

A) Creates or manipulates graphics B) Creates text elements that require a special font or special effects C) Composes ads including incolumn ads, by performing text entry, creative ad composition and quality assurance functions D) Works ads in priority according to production status E) Promotes positive company image at all times F) Identifies and implements production and operation improvements G) Saves and Retrieves art pieces in incolumn art library known as (incas) H) Uses PC graphic software to create line art, logos, screened art pieces and highly stylized lettering I) Assures that standards, specifications, rules, and guidelines set by PBD are met J) Corrects spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors K) Assures that the advertiser's instruction and layout are consistent with DGA production capabilitiesL) Scans artwork into computer system M) Ensures correct cropping of each art piece N) Types copy notice coding for all in column ads O) Positions and sizes ad copy to match customer's layout P) Meet or exceed production and quality standards required in our fast-paced production environment Q) Maintain effective working relationships within our team environment.May be required to perform other miscellaneous duties.

Basic Abilities Test for Publishing Jobs - 2 hours
Colored Blindness - 10 minutes
Graphics Artist Assessment - 2 hours
Target Selection Interview w/Portfolio Review - 1 1 Hour
Timed Typing Test - Level 1 - 10 minute

Advanced level of proficiency with commercial design, layout and image editing software, including: Illustrator/Freehand and Photoshop Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills Experience with PC Windows Ability to create Digital line drawings Foreign language may be required Experience with Macromedia Freehand Experience with computer graphics programs on a PC platform Newspaper/directory related experience.
