Manager of Direct Mail Print Production

We are OperationsInc, a human resources consulting firm located in Stamford, CT.  A client of ours, Media Horizons Incorporated, a growing Fairfield County direct marketing advertising agency, is seeking an experienced Manager of Direct Mail Print Production.  They have asked us to assist them in the identification of potential candidates.

This is an outstanding and visible opportunity to join the team supporting one of Media Horizon?s largest clients to manage the print production of their direct mailings.

 

The Manager, Print Production will be charged with owning all production aspects for direct marketing programs, including insert media, shared mail and solo direct mail. The successful candidate will be an expert in all aspects of print production, relentlessly drive down costs, flawlessly deliver large national direct marketing campaigns and relish the challenge of efficiently producing a wide variety of innovative and challenging formats.

 

Specific duties include the following:

 

? Produce and execute direct marketing programs aimed at new customer acquisition and retention

? Partner with Brand & Design acting as the production expert in new concept development

? Determines the specifications, feasibility, supplier sources and budget parameters of all graphic production for the marketing group

? Manages and communicates the budget for production including; soliciting cost estimates, approving and reconciling invoices against the budget, forward projecting costs & staying abreast of long term trends which may impact costs within the program

? Fosters strong professional relationships with reliable suppliers ? is ethical, fair and firm.

? Seeks to identify new vendors, techniques and products which would benefit the client

? Acts as the liaison with client?s content group ensuring that third party content is accurately used and approved

? Maintains accurate proofs and collateral file system

? Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget

? Reviews all print proofs and attends press checks as necessary

 

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor?s degree and 5+ years of experience in direct mail print production in a client service or agency environment, as well as:

 

? Strong knowledge of standard Direct Mail packages specifications and how they relate to USPS standards, costs, turnaround and delivery times

? Understand what is needed in a data select from management company or client?s data department; write data processing instructions to the lettershop and/or list management company

? Must know what to look for on input reports and what type of reports to request. When checking data reports, must understand what householding, merge/purge, De-dupe, nth select A/B/ splits, suppressions, match criteria, random select, data table, live split, etc means.

? Demonstrated experience with pre-press and on-press quality control

? Track record of managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment

? Proven ability to negotiate with vendors and manage budgets

? A sense of humor, an eye for detail and a knack for solving impossible production problems

? Passion of delivering great work and meaningful results

? Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time
