The AICPA has announced that it is relocating a substantial portion of its operations to Durham, NC. As a result, we have an opening for an Managing Editor of Client and Member Newsletters.

The Managing Editor of Client and Member Newsletters is responsible for:

Managing and authoring two newsletters for CPA clients. One of these newsletters is devoted to the broad spectrum of CPA services to small businesses and individuals, including write-up, compilations, tax planning and compliance, financial planning, and consulting services. The other is exclusively for individual and small business tax planning and compliance clients;Managing and editing a bimonthly newsletter for CPA members of the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Section; Acquiring and developing publications for the financial planning and tax compliance professionals.

ResponsibilitiesResearch topics and write articles for two CPA client newsletters assuring that the articles are accurate, engagingly written, and suitable to a lay audience; Prepare a reference guide for each of two client newsletters, citing sources for the stories and how to get further information; Oversee editorial development of personal financial planning  newsletter for CPAs; Coordinate the publication of the newsletters working closely with  production department; Plan and execute the publishing program for the Financial Planning and Tax Compliance areas, including contracting for a minimum of 6 new products annually; Establish development and production project plan and assure project schedule and budget are met; Maintain familiarity with developments and member needs in topical concentrations; Monitor trends in the fields of taxation, personal financial planning, general business and finance, attend AICPA conferences, monitor competitive topical coverage, and interact with AICPA Membership sections to source articles and manuscripts of interest; Assure revenue and profitability targets are met.

RequirementsCPA or JD required; Comprehensive knowledge of small business financial services and business and individual taxation; Two to four years newsletter writing experience with ability to prepare engaging copy for a consumer market; Newsletter production skills including scheduling, workflow, headline writing, proofreading, and manuscript mark-up; Strong research ability; Commercial/entrepreneurial inclination; Possess the following qualities: creative, high self-confidence, self-reliance, proactive work-style, devotion to accuracy, strong detail and results orientation, and acute deadline sensitivity; Ability to anticipate and solve problems; Available to work overtime to meet deadlines; Available for limited travel.
