Pre-Press Manager

Innovative Creative Packaging Solutions is the preeminent provider of specialty and high-end packaging with a long history of serving blue-chip customers in growing industries.  Innovative combines superior execution of printing and converting with a focus on quality to achieve high impact state-of-the-art packaging for a wide variety of markets.  We are seeking an experienced Pre-Press Manager for our South Plainfield 100,000 square foot, ultra-modern facility.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Directs and coordinates activities of preparation department to obtain optimum efficiency of pre-print operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

 

?  Coordinates distribution of work and scheduling of department personnel and equipment to comply with customer order quality requirements as well as production schedule.

?  Manages vendor relationships.

?  Reviews each order for Prep requirements and maintains a status log of all incoming orders.  Reviews and approves or assigns a designee to release prep work to the printing department.

?  Interfaces with Quality Assurance, Production, Printing, Die-Making and Customer Service to insure order meets customer requirements, as well as production schedule. 

?  Supervises destruction of film and art per Standard Operating Procedure guidelines.

?  Directly communicates with customer or vendor for order clarification and then assists department personnel in interpretation of customer requirements. 

?  Responsible for calculation of pre-press billing.

?  Improve upon existing procedures and standards, or initiate new ones, to maximize production and quality, and minimize waste, without jeopardizing safety.  Ensure plant safety policies and procedures are followed.

?  Provide leadership to shift supervisors and associates.

?  Directly supervises 10-12 employees in the prep department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

?  Manages estimates and budgets.

?  Miscellaneous duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

?  Minimum of 5 years of experience as Pre-Press Manager in Folding Carton Company.

?  Must have knowledge of CTP, QarkXPress, Illustrator and Photoshop. 

?  The ability to organize your work and keep to a production schedule.

?  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

?  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

?  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

?  Proficient computer skills.

?  Bachelor?s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent education and industry experience preferred.
