Production Coordinator, Overhaul & Maintenance Magazine

We seek a Production Coordinator who will assist in facilitating the flow of editorial, art and advertising to design, prepress and manufacturing vendors for monthly magazine. Planning and layout of Marketplace and Classified sections and other magazine features as needed. Data entry in photo, ad sales and project management databases. Coordinates author payments and maintains reports and communication with writers, advisors and other contributors.
 
Principal Accountabilities: 

Communicates with designer, pre-press and printing vendors at direction of Production Manager; provides instructions and materials, display ad formats and house ads; faxing and shipping.
Sends artwork and reader service numbers to pre-press vendor; ensures accuracy of reader service numbers.
Coordinates receipt of outstanding artwork from advertisers.
Enters advertising contracts into database; generates reports as required.
Responsible for layout and design of assigned magazine sections, including scanning photos and/or logos, and providing files to designer.
Assists with layout and design of regular features, as needed.
Assists in checking page proofs for style consistency, accurate captions and source lines; running heads and running feet; corrects page proofs at direction of Production Manager.
Coordinates production of special issues/sections at direction of Editor-in-Chief and Production Manager.
Proofreads copy for grammar, spelling, style, and content as needed.
Maintains photo library and returns photos where requested.
Keeps project management databases up to date and participates in development of, and maintains, new databases.
Handles magazine correspondence.



Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field and minimum of 1 year as an editorial or production assistant or project coordinator, or
3 years of equivalent experience
Ability to proofread, knowledge of proof marks
General knowledge of commercial and military aviation, with an emphasis on overhaul and maintenance preferred
Accurate, detailed and able to meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
Excellent general computer and desk-top publishing skills, specifically Quark Express; knowledge of pre-press and printing technologies and requirements.
