Publications Specialist

Publications, data, content, batch pagination



We are looking for a Publications Specialist with strong technical skills. We need a dedicated individual to work independently to produce print and electronic publications, using XML authoring packages, batch pagination software, and graphics programs. The ideal individual will have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and be able to multi-task effectively within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:
Analyze, troubleshoot, and debug files
Assist in testing of template modifications
Help monitor overall functionality of page composition system, including resetting the print server daily
Perform graphics creation and modification
Maintain a log for galley and pagination output production
Create and modify MSDOS batch files for production of print and electronic products
Print, label and burn CD-ROM media and images

Requirements:
Background in publishing with experience batch publishing, XML authoring, and using page composition software
Proficient use of Adobe Acrobat Professional Software and File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Understanding of XML, SGML and DTDs
Familiar with electronic image formats (TIFF, GIF, JPEG)
Familiar with either DOS/Linux/UNIX
Knowledge of web and online systems
