Reprographics Technician I ? Digital Print Operator

A Full-Time Classified Represented Position

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:  Under direction of the Supervisor of Reprographics, performs a variety of complex tasks associated with completing high-speed duplication and/or digital printing work including entering commands into the equipment being operated and performing the less complex digital equipment manipulations needed to prepare the printing job; sets up and operates a computer, bindery equipment, and other related reprographic equipment; adjusts, cleans and maintains copiers, bindery equipment and related printing equipment.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:  Two years of experience performing general clerical duties that include operation of general office equipment including but not limited to photocopiers, laser printers, and word processing equipment.

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.  Training or coursework in printing, typing, word processing or related areas desirable.

Knowledge of:  Principles and procedures used to operate high-speed or digital print equipment;  Papers and tools used in high-speed print duplication;  Record-keeping practices, supply inventory, and requisition processes;  Basic electronics and computer commands used to operate digital print equipment;  Safety requirements applied in the operation of large equipment;  Industrial workplace safety practices.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND COMPENSATION: Salary placement will be on Range 16 ($2727-$3880) of Classified Represented Salary Schedule B.  Initial salary step placement for new employees is customarily at step 1, 2 or 3 ($2727 $2885 $3050) of this 8-step salary range; step advancement is yearly up to step 7; with advancement to step 8 after two years at step 7.  Probationary period for new Classified employees is one year.  Work year is 12 calendar months with 15 paid holidays per year.  The normal workweek for this position is 40 hours.  10 vacation days accrue during first year of employment.  Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments.
