Consumer Reports is published by Consumers Union, an independent, nonprofit testing and information organization. Since 1936, CU's mission has been to test products, inform the public and protect consumers. We are a comprehensive source for unbiased advice about products and services, personal finance, health and nutrition, and other consumer concerns.
Consumer Reports magazine alone has 4 million subscribers. We reach millions more consumers through Consumer Reports Online, our health newsletter, radio programs, television programs, car price services, and fax service.

We are currently seeking a Senior Editor for our Electronics Franchise. This position:

- Edits copy for Consumer Reports and Consumer Reports Online as required; writes or rewrites articles based on reports, surveys, government studies and other printed sources, including Consumers Union technical reports, and on interviews with experts, consultants, and other sources of information.

- May write headings, sub-titles, captions, Table of Contents, etc., as necessary.

- Also handles special projects assignments, such as a regular column and regular product reports as needed.

- Participates in planning responsibilities as necessary.

- May perform other duties of the department but not those of a higher level.

Required Skills:
College graduate with 7 or more years' work experience as a professional journalist. Must have substantial record of investigative reporting, writing, editing on consumer issues especially home-related product and subject areas in print and online. Must be able to decipher complex legal and marketing data, analyze pricing and statistics, and translate government regulations into accurate, readable articles. Needs to have excellent organization skills and demonstrate the ability to meet rigid deadlines. The ability to do primary research and investigative interviews for feature-length articles is essential. Blog writing experience a plus.
