The Advisory Board?s Clinical Strategy Watch is seeking candidates for the position of staff writer. The Watch is a biweekly, online publication that provides news and analysis to approximately 35,000 executives and staff at Clinical Advisory Board and Health Care Advisory Board member institutions.

 

The Watch staff writer will craft stories of varying length and analytical rigor, from short news summaries and journal abstracts to in-depth original reporting and news analysis.

 

In addition, the staff writer will:

? Participate in daily searches for relevant news and information

? Read industry journals for trends and potential story ideas

? Research stories via exhaustive searches of secondary sources (e.g., websites, literature, Factiva)

? Schedule and conduct targeted interviews with primary sources

? Create graphics to illustrate key concepts, processes, and data

? Maintain a working knowledge of relevant, in-house research and incorporate research into articles, when appropriate

? Publish stories to Advisory.com using internally designed software

? Participate as a writer and proofer for departmentwide initiatives

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

? Superior strength in written communication; writing must be extremely sharp and concise

? Ability to master strategic and clinical terrain

? Proven ability to interpret and synthesize diverse materials

? Ability to adapt mass media and journal studies to our target audience and structure coverage around actionable take-home messages for the membership, when applicable

? Ability to ?breathe life? (and occasional wit) into coverage

? Ability to thrive under intense deadline pressure; highly efficient

? Acute "news sense," as demonstrated by the ability to clip pertinent articles and to quickly identify and summarize an article's main points

? Demonstrated aptitude for critical thinking and analytic reasoning

? Ability to work independentlyWillingness to commit to the demands of a fast-paced deadline culture and to make the sacrifices required of a small teamRecord of outstanding performance in current position
