JOB DESCRIPTION:
Technical Copy Editor (Bethesda-VVB)
Technical Copy Editor provides technical assistance to NIH through the substantive editing of internal newsletters, fact sheets, process documents, and other written materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Work with team of writers to translate dense, technical subject matter into concise text
? Ensure that written content is clear, consistent with NIH style, and free of bureaucratic or overly technical language
? Help develop Web-friendly content, i.e., short paragraphs, plenty of white space, etc.
? Make recommendations to project leads on editorial issues
? Assist in special writing assignments, as required
Essential Skills:
? Minimum of five years of specialized experience in editing a range of high-quality materials for print and electronic publication
? Extensive knowledge of English grammar
? Experience working in a large organization
? Extreme attention to detail
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office
? Editing and grammar tests at interview
Education:
? Bachelor?s degree in Journalism, English, or related field
