Responsible for the purchase of all or a specific portion of intercontinental logistics services.? Work is complex and involves a considerable amount of initiative and a high level of independent judgment.? May instruct, train and assign work to a small group of employees.

Utilize Global Purchasing & Supply Chain (GPSC) sourcing process (Request for Quotation, Analysis of Quotation, Source Selection) to establish a capable/competitive global supply base
Develop, manage and negotiate with suppliers under the guidance of Quality, Service, Technology and price strategies
Perform research (supplier, industry, governmental and competitive intelligence) to develop knowledge and contribute to strategy development
Perform benchmarking exercises
Develop / Prepare RFP/RFQ in an MS Office environment
Implement and monitor procurement procedures
Maintain sourcing and contract files supporting modifications and amendments
Participate in data analysis for continuous improvement
Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Keep abreast of current product/service developments and trends in area of expertise
Actively engaged in identifying and pursuing training, development and growth opportunities
Creativity Team Leader or Leadership role on Creativity Team (as appropriate)
Contacts and negotiates prices ad terms with outside suppliers
Develops and maintains reliable suppliers
Monitors and assesses supplier performance and advises management of questionable circumstances
Follows market price trends and availability of logistics services
Negotiates settlements on rejected or defective materials
Checks and approves invoices
Adheres to unit and corporate purchasing policies and procedures
Ensures timely delivery of materials
Frequent contact with others outside the work group



Basic Preferred Qualifications

Understand basic supply chain concepts
Knowledge of plant products, manufacturing processes and departmental relationships
Project Management Skills
Strong business writing skills
High level of capability to function independently
High level of negotiation skills
Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
Detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Experience working in a global environment preferred
Knowledge of MS Office Products (heavy emphasis on Excel, Powerpoint and Access); Outlook, Lotus Notes knowledge preferred
5 - 7 years in a procurement environment
Bachelors degree in business or international business, supply chain management, engineering, logistics, or a related field or relevant experience
Understanding of International Logistics Material or Vehicle Services (Freight Forwarding, Material Management, Consol, Deconsol, Ocean (container), Air,
Small Pack, Port Processing, Ocean (Ro-Ro), Vehicle Inspection)


Basic Required Qualifications

Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents
Knowledge of commodities, materials and products being purchased
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
Knowledge of corporate and unit purchasing practices and procedures
High school graduate or equivalent training, plus training such as that acquired in the first two to three years of college, technical, or business school
