Advanced Purchasing Manager

The Advanced Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the following initiatives:

 

o The Advanced Purchasing Manager will assign program responsibilities, manage the Advanced Purchasing Buyers team and be responsible for their activity and performances.

o Responsible for reporting programs Purchasing status and issues to the Director of Purchasing, using the Purchasing reporting tools.

o Monitors the purchased parts cost, quality, delivery, key dates and reports issues to the Director of Purchasing.

o Point of contact for the request for quotes from all program teams.

o Supervise and assist in recommending suppliers for award of new business, negotiate and approve business terms and pricing.

o Assist in development and implementation of short and long term strategic planning within the guidelines set by the Sr. VP Procurement and Global Supply Chain Management.

o Responsible for programs transition from the development phase to the manufacturing plant and production suppliers.

o Review and approve purchasing requisitions, tooling & piece price purchase orders.

o Assist as required to develop annual budgeting programs, to include cost savings initiatives.

o Develop, implement and track cost savings initiatives throughout the year.  Maintain reporting system to upper management to track progress.  Develop and maintain an accurate bench marking program.

o Maintain strict price disciplines.  Communicate price changes in a concise, timely and orderly manner so as to maintain system and supplier integrity.

o Foster and support supplier VA/VE activities corporate wide, at all levels of the corporation and with the entire supply base.

o Work with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments to develop process and product specifications.

o Maintain and develop advance purchasing and minority sourcing operations.

o Support and develop a purchasing staff as appropriate and within the guidelines set by corporate management.

o Audit and make supplier visits as needed to maintain the integrity of the supply base and customer quality programs.

o The supervisory responsibilities include interviewing and hiring new employees, conducting performance reviews, planning and directing work, discipline employees, guiding and supporting employees in their professional development and other leadership responsibilities. 

o Exhibit and require of the staff, suppliers and internal departments the utmost morals and ethics and required by the company guidelines and regulations.

o Travel approx. 15% (North America (including Mexico), Europe, Asia, etc.

 

Due to the scope of this position it is essential that applicants have knowledge, skill, experience, and education in the following areas:

 

o  5-10 years progressive purchasing experience in a high volume global operation

o  Bachelor degree required, Masters degree preferred

o  Analytical and strong negotiator

o  Team player, self starter

o  Strong interpersonal, strategic, communication, and management skills

o  Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.

o  Ability to influence the actions and opinions of others in a desired direction.
