Buyer – Manufacturing - Temporary

Summary:   Our client develops, delivers and supports solutions for nuclear plants, laboratories and homeland security programs throughout the world.  With manufacturing and engineering centers in five countries, extensive product support and application engineering on three continents and service facilities around the globe, we deliver cost effective and localized safety and security measurement solutions for our customers' nuclear requirements.

 

To support a new project, they are seeking to add a Buyer to their permanent staff in Meriden, CT for a 3-6 month temporary assignment Compensation is $20-22/hr.  The position is non-exempt, so overtime is at time and a half.

 

Responsibilities:

Contract negotiations, scheduling, and purchasing items to meet production needs.  Reduce total costs, reduce inventory investment, ensure adequate material quality levels and optimize production fill rates.

 

Required Qualifications:
Local/commutable to Meriden, CT
2-3 years purchasing experience for a manufacturing company. 
Experience in contract negotiation; vendor research and sourcing skills
Working knowledge of MRP and LEAN
Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical data including blueprints
Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical applications
