Buyer/Contract Administrator

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
*Achieve lowest possible cost for material and/or services, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs. This position will be responsible for purchasing indirect material or services for an assigned location(s).
*Solicit and evaluate proposals employing appropriate negotiation, cost and price analysis techniques; using available expertise from supporting organizations.
*Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan programs to meet assigned business needs.
*Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for assigned commodities and business.
*Subject matter expert on business purchasing processes, primarily relating to indirect material or services.
*Drive business compliance in all areas.
*Maintain high ethics in relations between Company and all suppliers and member of the public.
*Conduct eauctions as appropriate.
*Manage purchasing assignments with limited supervision.

Qualifications/Requirements:
*4 year college degree and 3 years of purchasing experience or minimum of 5 years equivalent experience in a buying/purchasing capacity, preferably relating to Indirect material or services.
*Strong knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel, Access, Word.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Understands the foundations and principles of negotiations: what, why and when; different negotiating philosophies, styles, tactics, methods
*Basic knowledge of the contract negotiation process and buy/sell relationship.
*Basic knowledge of practical impact of contract terms and conditions on the business unit.
*Know the components of contracts (e.g., intellectual property, payment terms,
*Understands the components of the Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Statements of Work (SOW) and can construct simple RFPs/SOWs
*Ability to drive business goals and objectives and initiate contract compliance on the business level (Change Management Skills)
*Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments according to Company objectives.
